hanrahan Meyers architects (hMa) are committed to Green Design. In 1987 hMa designed their first public building that gave the firm national recognition as architects with their winning design for the Chattanooga Nature Interpretive Center. hMa’s Interpretive Center was a forward thinking Green building featuring a solar panel as the building entrance canopy, in addition to other sustainable features. HMa gives 2 % of the firm’s income to Nature conservation groups every year as an offset to the impact of the firm’s construction projects. hMa currently are architects for a Platinum LEED Community Center at Battery Park City, with construction planned for 2008.

hMa’s philosophy of design with a connection to Nature is displayed boldly on the firm’s website. hMa specializes in Nature based design that incorporates Green and sustainable technologies and materials. The tagline on hMa’s website, ‘design is a frame to Nature’, reflects the firm’s commitment to Green and sustainable design.

hMa implements their own proprietary Green specifications that apply to all hMa projects including: recycled content GWB; use of low VOC paint; and use of high efficiency, energy star rated equipment. hMa has experience from their role as master plan architects overseeing Green guidelines for Battery Park City Residential Developments since 2000. In 2005 hMa were hired as architects for the new Platinum LEED Community Center for Battery Park City’s North Neighborhood development.

hanrahan Meyers architects (hMa) are pleased to announce that they are designing a new 55,000 square foot sustainable and green Platinum LEED rated Community Center adjacent to Ground Zero. The project will feature a 540 foot long glass wall facing West Street. hMa is designing the glass wall in collaboration with New York composer Michael Schumacher. Mr. Schumacher’s piece is a combination of various bird songs. The piece will be etched on the wall in a design by hanrahan Meyers, using a bar code. The ‘bird wall’ faces toward West Street, and links the site and Battery Park City’s grounds with the future Freedom Tower at Ground Zero. hanrahan Meyers architects (hMa) create uniquely branded sustainable and green spaces and master plans. hMa's collaborative design process has produced award-winning designs featured at the Museum of Modern Art and in publications worldwide. In 2007, partner Victoria Meyers published 'designing with light' with Laurence King / Abbeville Press, featured on National Public Radio and in arts and architecture bookstores worldwide. hMa clients enjoy modern style, and have access to our firms experience producing sustainable design, custom interiors, and unique corporate branding.

Victoria Meyers is a founding partner of hanrahanMeyers architects (hMa). She has been a principal on a number of award-winning projects in the firm, including Red Hook Center for the Arts, Marfa Theater, Schrom Studios, Arts International, Sagaponac House, and Ojai Festival Performance Shell. In addition to numerous public projects, Ms. Meyers works with residential clients on the design of award-winning houses, loft apartments, and furniture design. in 2004, Ms. Meyers was one of twelve designers chosen from a field of international talent to have her work showcased as part of the 'Wonder Women' show mounted by Dune Furniture during ICFF weekend.

Ms. Meyers published Designing with Light with Laurence King Publishers, London / Abbeville Press in 2006 cataloging hMa's research into natural light. Ms. Meyers has taken a leadership role in bringing sustainable and green knowledge to the firm, completing courses in sustainable and green design through her post-professional researches into Green and Sustainable design practices. Ms. Meyers received her M. Arch from Harvard and an A.B in Art History and Civil Engineering from Lafayette College.

Thomas Hanrahan is a founding partner if hanrahanMeyers architects (hMa). He has been principal on a number of award-winning projects, including Hunt's Point Performance Center, Holley Residence (featured at the Museum of Modern Art in 1999), Pratt Design Center, and the Interpretive Center museum in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Mr. Hanrahan works with urban design clients, including Battery Park City Authority, where hMa are the official master plan architects for the North Neighborhood. In 2004 Mr. Hanrahan hosted a symposium in New York in collaboration with Metropolis magazine titled: 'Global Warming'. The symposium addressed issues of green technologies applied to building construction as well as regional urbanism and sustainable development.

Mr. Hanrahan received his B. Arch from the University of Illinois and his M. Arch from Harvard's Graduate School of Design.
